Run by Johanna Heywood-Lonsdale and opened in early in 2023, Springtail Escapes was inspired in part by the back country huts in New Zealand and aims to offer guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the tranquillity and natural rural beauty of North Shropshire.
Brought up in rural Ireland and with background in cooking and hospitality, Johanna has relished the return to rural life having worked for several years in Dublin.
Now working alongside her husband William, they are raising their family and focusing on the transitioning of the farming enterprise to a fully regenerative operation, focussing on building healthy functioning soils to drive productivity. The ultimate aim is to build a truly sustainable, resilient ecologically vibrant farming enterprise producing food of the highest nutritional value and integrity. For Johanna, with long held interests in both farming and nutrition this is a very exciting challenge.
Along side this work, for many years William has been actively seeking and engaging in activities across the farm to enhance the habitat and conditions for a range of flora and fauna all seen as delivering key contributions to the farms ecosystem and it’s resilience.
