Plan your Stay

We believe North Shropshire is one of England’s hidden gems; not only does it offer lots of local places of interest to visit, it also boasts a thriving and growing food scene. It’s location provides easy access to North Wales, the Peak District and South Shropshire hills as well as the attractions of major towns and cities such as Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and Shrewsbury.

We are proud of north Shropshire as a very friendly and welcoming place and aim to keep guests informed of any interesting local village activities which they may enjoy throughout the year; the Calverhall and Ightfield winter walk is a particular favourite with those participating offered cake and drinks at each farm they pass as well as a chat with the friendly locals. There is also the annual ‘Family Day’ which this year featured live camel racing!

Should you wish to explore further the local area there are several good pubs a decent walk or a short drive away as well as network of vibrant villages and towns. Whitchurch to the northwest has, in recent years, had a real revival and now boasts two Michelin recommended restaurants. Similarly Shrewsbury is a great destination for a day out with a buzzing high street and a range of lovely independent shops. The covered market in Shrewsbury is a local favourite where there is huge range of particularly fine foodie delights: try Tom’s table for a box of salad or homemade halloumi bagel, Iron and Rose upstairs for a bottle of natural wine, the Bird Nest downstairs for a perfect coffee and the OttOlive Bakehouse opposite for a little treat and that’s just to get started!

There are beautiful gardens within easy reach including Hodnet Hall and Wollerton, considered one of the best gardens in the country. While there are plenty of places to walk and visit in the vicinity, we are only a stone’s throw from the North Wales border, the Shropshire hills and Peak District which offer extensive opportunities for walking day trips.
